Q: What is a backer board and why do I have to use it with my Way Basics furniture?
A: The white backer board included with all Way Basics furniture is the essential framing piece that holds everything together. It’s kinda like the legs to a tripod—if you take away one leg, it’s not quite as sturdy. How about this analogy: It’s kinda like the bread to a PB & J sandwich—all the ingredients are delicious, but the bread is what brings it all together to make it functional. Without the bread, what do you have? A mess!
The backer board is designed to adhere neatly, stabilize your furniture and create a finished look. Mmm tasty!
Q: What about the stuff in your Design Gallery? Some of that stuff doesn’t have a backer board!
A: There are ways to get around the use of the backer board. Take for instance the photo shown on the left. This is one of the possibilities available with the Tribeca. The reason why this works without the backer board is due to the Divider Boards which are placed perpendicular to the front of the structure. The structure is more rigid with the boards in this configuration and necessary to preserve the life of the product.
If you chose to have neither the backer board nor the perpendicular Divider Boards, you may find it similar to eating your PB & J sandwich without the bread!

The Benefits of using recycled paper are staggering! By choosing to purchase recycled paper products as opposed to products that use virgin paper fibers we are able to reduce: energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, particulate emissions, waste water, solid waste and wood consumption.
In a recent report by the Environmental Paper Network, it is estimated that 42% of the industrial wood harvest is used to make paper—a sobering fact given that forests store roughly 50 percent of all terrestrial carbon, making them one of our most important safeguards against climate change. Old-growth and mature, second-growth natural forests store much larger amounts of carbon than newly planted stands and once logged, require decades to recover the original amount of carbon they contained.
You have the power as a consumer to choose to purchase only recycled paper and recycled paper products—Viva la revolution!

The name of the zBoard is no coincidence nor did it originate from a late night coffee-fueled brainstorm session. If you take a look inside a zBoard, you will see that the corrugated pattern looks like the letter Z. Add “board” to this equation and voila! You have a zBoard! To top it all off, the zBoard even sounds French: “ze-board”, now we are getting fancy!
Made 100% from paper, a colored zBoard will use 99% post-consumer recycled paper with the remaining 1% coming from the vibrant color of the paper veneer. We also offer a Kraft version (all of which is 20% off for a limited time) and is composed 100% from post-consumer recycled paper…an environmentalist’s dream!
With a patented manufacturing process that took a decade to develop, there is nothing in the market that comes close to the zBoard. Eco, green, light and cool are just a few of the adjectives people mention when seeing the zBoard for the first time. Weighing 62% less than particle board or MDF, the zBoard is solid and engineered to last!
