Intrigued yet? What’s an X-term you may be asking? X-terms two week experiential learning intensives which take place in January and in May/June. The program in May/June is student led and students must raise the funds, plan the curriculum, and design the entire program. X-terms are based on Maria Montessori’s views, and they provide a unique learning experience that cannot be matched. Every year the students choose something different that is sure to change their lives for the better. Two years ago, they ventured out to New York City, and spent a week immersed in the startup culture. They worked with Union Square Ventures, Stack Overflow, Stack Exchange, and Coco Foods International. Cool, huh?
We love supporting our future generation, especially brilliant go-getters like these kids, so we were thrilled when they contacted us to be apart of their fundraising for this years X-terms! They have some pretty cool prizes including a Nook, Jambox, and Way Basics Cubby Organizer! Be sure to check it out and help them reach their $10,000 goal! After all, all students deserve to be supported and helped to reach their dreams!

Way Basics is proud to be part of this touching story. The following is an excerpt from greenyourdecor.com about a little girl named Ja’Naya who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.
“Things have been a little slow around here lately, I know. This is due in part to the holidays, but of late, there is a much more serious reason for my absence. I hesitated to write this, but there’s no other way to explain it than to just say it. Last week, my daughter was diagnosed with leukemia.”
Way Basics has taken the opportunity this month to partner with Catholic Charities in Louisiana to furnish the homes of families recovering from hurricane impacted areas.
Way Basics made a heartfelt commitment to help those in need through donations and sponsorships of charitable organizations much like Catholic Charities. We are happy to announce our efforts to furnish the homes of families in need in Southeast Louisiana.
Catholic Charities operates numerous programs dedicated to serving those most in need, addressing issues such as hunger, poverty, unemployment, domestic violence, education and the needs of the mentally ill. They have touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of residents in Southeast Louisiana, and recently took steps to partner with Way Basics for the betterment of their community.
With this partnership, Way Basics and Catholic Charities will do our best to serve those most in need of hurricane relief efforts.
Way Basics continued the Earth Day Celebration with Greer’s OC at hot spot Mesa in Costa Mesa, CA. The party also launches their first e-magazine. Way Basics donated a Cube, Kraft Cube Plus2 and a 3 Spinning Cube in an silent auction to benefit Global Green. Global Green is the United States affiliate of Green Cross International fosters a global value shift toward a sustainable and secure world.
One of the pillars upon which Way Basics stands is our belief in helping the community in times of need. This spring we had a chance to partner with The Kids In Need Foundation.
The Kids In Need Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded in 1995 whose mission is to ensure that every child is prepared to learn and succeed by providing free school supplies nationally to students most in need.
We found out about the Kids In Need Foundation through CAMEX. What a perfect opportunity to give back! CAMEX is the largest college bookstore tradeshow and happens annually. Way Basics was able to make a contribution to the Kids In Need Foundation by donating products from multiple booths to help furnish those in need. Good luck Kids In Need Foundation! We love your cause!
One of the greatest gifts to receive is the gift of knowledge… so when we were approached by the Chinatown Community Children’s Center (CCCC) to be a part of their Spring Gala event, we jumped at the opportunity.
The CCCC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality childcare and other social services to meet the needs of families in San Francisco. Founded in 1972, the Center has successfully provided more than 2,500 families in the Bay Area with quality Bilingual-Bicultural education.
Each year the CCCC holds the Spring Gala event in hopes of furthering their cause. The Spring Gala allows the community to gather and give each other a hand up; not a hand out. With Way Basics’ contribution, the CCCC hopes to raise enough money through silent auction in order to reach their goals for this year.If you will be in the bay area be sure to stop by and see what everyone is so passionate about!
Way Basics would like to extend a very big “THANK YOU!” to the CCCC for working tirelessly to better our communities.
