Our Cause
The Way Basics WayOur products and our way of doing business come out of the principles we live by every day. We believe in taking things back to basics, and simplifying as much as we can. That’s why Way Basics furniture building blocks – we call them zBoards -- are made from post-consumer recycled paper, one of the simplest, most ancient materials ever. Unlike other assembly-required products, our zBoards can be recycled with no waste when their use is over, so they make little to no environmental impact. Buying from us is simple too. We’ve streamlined our process to make it easy, and we’re always available by email or phone to answer your questions. We love to talk about Way Basics products! From start to finish, we’re truly committed to sustainable practices. Of course, our offices are furnished with Way Basics recyclable furniture. We’ve given every Way Basics employee an aluminum water bottle to eliminate the wasteful use of throwaway plastic bottles. Energy-conserving LED lights illuminate our offices, the chairs we sit on are made from recycled materials, and we champion working at home because of the gas and energy it can save. We think it’s just the right way to do things. The Way We Give BackWe’ve made a heartfelt commitment to contributing to those in need. Since we’re a furniture company, we’ve chosen to focus our efforts on furniture banks around the country. Furniture banks are non-profit organizations that collect and distribute furniture and home furnishings to families in desperate need -- victims of natural disasters who’ve lost everything they owned, women and children escaping from domestic violence, working families below the poverty line, and others requiring a hand up — not a handout. Sustainable Furnishings CouncilWe’re also founding members of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, a non-profit group committed to promoting sustainable practices among manufacturers, retailers, and consumers. Our goals are to raise awareness of the sustainability issue, to assist companies in adopting good practices, to serve as an information clearing house, and to create a symbol of assurance for consumers to help them make good purchasing decisions.
